Jack Forester
Jack Forester is Managing Director of Ground Zero Limited, a marketing consultancy that produces action sports and music events for companies seeking the youth market. When Jack first attended beepurple in 2005, he displayed the kind of tenacity that beepurple feels all entrepreneurs should have in abundance.
Jack has progressed from strength to strength, and on Brighton beach, during the summer of 2006, Jack organised an extreme sports event called ‘The Extreme Dirty Weekend', which featured the UK's biggest vert ramp (half-pipe). The UK's best professional skateboarders and BMXers, alongside established and emerging local hip-hop DJs and MCs and a trade village, all contributed to ensure Brighton's vibrant youth scene enjoyed a weekend to remember.
The success of the 2006 event led to an even bigger and better event in summer 2007, which welcomed back the vert ramp as well as new features including a public bar. The 2007 event was recently broadcast on Channel 4, Extreme Sports Channel and received extensive exposure online and in the press. Sponsors of Jack's events have included Sony PSP, Nike 6.0, Ubisoft and Vans, to name a few.
Jack is also responsible for The YES (Youth Enterprise Southeast) Network, a series of events which aim to inspire, inform and connect young entrepreneurs. "I started the YES Network because there were no local enterprise networks that encouraged young enterprise, except for exclusive networks within local universities and I thought it would be of benefit to other young people considering starting a business."
Jack's success was recognised at the recent Brighton and Hove Business Awards 2007, where he scooped the Best Young Entrepreneur award. Beepurple is delighted for Jack and feel this could be just the first one of many business awards.
Jack said "If it wasn't for Beepurple, I probably wouldn't be in the position I am today. Attending the seminars gave me inspiration and a basic knowledge of entrepreneurship and also led me onto finding out about similar free programmes and initiatives. I wish I had attended this kind of thing whilst I was at university because it provides you with an excellent understanding of the real world of business and I have benefited from tons of invaluable advice from people who have built successful companies. I strongly recommend Beepurple to anyone who is already considering a business idea, or who doesn't really know what to do with their life!"
